Privacy policy
Effective 6 November 2026
Short version: Kagura reads recent messages in a channel so it can reply, and sends them to the AI provider the server picked. It does not keep a copy of your chat history. It keeps the settings, memories, and records it needs to work. You can delete your own data with /me nuke.
1. Who this covers
This policy covers the Kagura Discord bot and its web dashboard at torchy.cc. "We" means the people who run Kagura. It applies to everyone whose messages Kagura sees, not only the people who talk to it.
2. What Kagura reads but does not keep
- Recent messages in a channel where Kagura replies, including names, mentions, images, and attachments, so it has context.
- Basic server info, such as channel names, roles, member names, custom emojis, and stickers, when a reply or a server action needs it.
- Profile pictures, when someone asks Kagura to look at one or when a welcome image is made.
Kagura does not save this chat history. Parts of it can end up in what Kagura does keep: a memory someone asks it to save, a short summary of the chat, or an error log (see below).
3. What Kagura keeps
- Discord IDs and names of people who use Kagura, and of members a server action touches.
- Your settings: nickname, pronouns, timezone, language, and personal model or provider choices.
- Memories: facts saved about a server or about a person, documents, lorebooks, short-term chat summaries, reminders, and scheduled tasks. A server memory can mention members who did not write it.
- Server settings: personas, prompts, channels, roles, quotas, blacklists, welcome messages and images, starboard posts, and the mod log.
- Moderation records: warnings, timeouts, and blocks set through Kagura.
- Raw tracker data: tracked series, channels, roles to ping, the chapter list, and downloaded chapter files.
- API keys for AI providers and other services. They are stored encrypted and only used for the server or person who added them.
- Dashboard accounts: username, a password hash (argon2id, never the password itself), login sessions, and which server the account controls.
- Usage records: counts of messages, commands, tools, tokens, and estimated costs, used for limits and stats.
- Error logs: when something breaks, the log can hold part of the request, including message text. We use these only to fix problems.
4. Why we use it
- To reply, remember what you asked it to remember, and run the features a server turns on.
- To keep servers safe: permissions, limits, blacklists, and moderation.
- To fix bugs and stop abuse.
We do not sell your data. We do not use it for ads. We do not train AI models on it.
5. Who else gets data
- AI providers chosen by the server or by you (for example OpenRouter, Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, or a custom endpoint) receive the prompt, recent chat context, persona details, and any media needed for the reply. Their own privacy policies apply.
- Search and web tools receive search words or links when Kagura looks something up.
- Manga sites receive requests from the raw tracker. These carry no personal data.
- Hosting: Kagura runs on Oracle Cloud servers in Singapore. Cloudflare carries traffic to the dashboard and these pages.
- Discord receives everything Kagura posts, as with any bot.
- The law: we share data if the law requires it, or to stop serious harm.
6. How long we keep it
- Settings, memories, and server data stay until you or the server delete them, or until we shut the service down.
- Short-term summaries and some indexes are cleaned up on their own after a while.
- Error logs and usage records are not deleted on a fixed schedule. Ask us and we will remove entries about you.
- Database backups can hold deleted data for a while before they are replaced.
7. Your choices
- See and remove your personal memories with
/me memories. - Download your settings or memories with
/backup. - Delete all your personal Kagura data with
/me nuke. - Server managers can delete a server's memories with
/notebook, reset settings with/reset, or erase all server data with/wipe-server. - Members can ask a server's admins to stop Kagura from reading a channel, or to block them from it.
- For anything else, contact us (see below).
8. Security
API keys are encrypted. Dashboard passwords are hashed. Access to the servers is limited to the people who run Kagura. No system is perfectly safe, so do not share secrets with Kagura in chat.
9. Children
Kagura is not meant for anyone under Discord's minimum age. If you think we hold data about such a child, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to see, fix, export, or delete your data, or to object to how we use it. Most of this you can do yourself with the commands above. For the rest, contact us. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
11. Contact and updates
For privacy questions or data requests, contact the Kagura team through the Discord server where you use Kagura, or through torchy.cc.
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows the latest version.
